American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos). Length 62 inches, Wingspan 108 inches. Photographed at Las Gallinas, Marin County, CA. The noticable knob on the bill is indicative of breeding adult. White pelicans do not dive for their food as do the Brown Pelican, but instead dip their bills into the water while swimming.
