Tufted Puffin
Copyright Barbara Samuelson 1999
The Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) is approximately 15"
in length. The breeding adult's face is white, as in this photo, with
a bright bill and pale yellow tufts drooping over the back of the neck.
Full adult bill and plumage take several years to develop. This puffin
was photographed in Seward, Alaska, at the Alaska
Sealife Center.
