Western Bluebird
Copyright Barbara Samuelson 2003The Western Bluebird (Sialia mexicana) is a member of the Thrush family that feeds on insects and fruit. They nest in holes in trees, posts or in nest boxes. A major predator of their eggs is the non-native European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris). Please visit the North American Bluebird Society page for more information, particularly on building bird boxes. |
